ROTM: Shaniece, Living Up the 'Boujee' Life
Medical assistant in Staten Island NYC
Meet our Reeeler of the Month, Shaniece Alston. Shaniece is a hard working reeeler who just got a new job in a New York hospital. With the her spunk and fun personality there's no stopping this girl from getting what she wants.
If her paycheck isn't going towards bills, she says her money goes right into savings. Reeelit made sense to her because, even though she has to pay bills, she is still financially able to buy things she likes through small daily deposits. "I take care of a lot of people," she said. So Reeelit was the perfect way to take care of herself!
Originally she saw an ad for Reeelit online. Not knowing much about it, she tested it out by reeeling a pair of beautiful Swarovski crystal earrings for her mom for Christmas. It only took her three weeks to reeel them in. She realized how easy and convenient the process was and her reaction was, "ooooh I like this!" Ever since then, Shaniece has been a pro Reeeler.
Shaniece just finished reeeling in her new Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote Bag (took 4 months total)—see picture below. She wanted the bag because it's timeless and would have it for life!
Seems like she's a pretty high fashion girl right? Well actually, Shaniece describes herself as a "tomboy." She even joked about how her mom tried to pay her to wear dresses as a teenager. She's still trying to figure out what her personal style is but a new 'girly' Louis Vuitton and a few dresses from her favorite stores (Fashion Nova and American Eagle) seem to be a good start.
When I first asked Shaniece what her relationship with money was, I got a very straight forward response,"It sucks! I live a very boujee life." I relate to this all too well.
Not familiar with the word boujee? Let me enlighten you...
Boujee (bo͞oʹzhē) n. adj. From the french word "bourgeois" which basically means someone who wasn't born into high society but acts or dresses with all of the glitz and glam that comes along with it.
So how does Shaniece manage this boujee lifestyle? Here are a few of her hacks:
Stop using so many credit cards. Shaniece cut off a few of her credit cards, which actually ended up helping her credit. She tries to hide her credit cards, and keeps them out of reach to avoid any shopping temptations.
Another money saving hack she uses is The Budgetnista. This is an online program helped her save $300/month.
Plan Ahead. She prefers to be prepared with a plan and details well in advance. Actually, she has been planning a Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas for the past 8 months and is about to set sail. Talk about being ahead of the game and treating yourself!
So what's next for Shaniece? Pretty soon she'll have sunscreen in her LV bag while basking in the sun on the lido deck of a cruise ship. She won't have a care in the world because she planned ahead and saved her hard earned money—guilt free!
