Top 15 Reels in 2018: Gucci is Killing the Game
As the year is wrapping up, we look back at 2018 and what items were hot commodities! Here are the top 15 reels in 2018:
If it’s not already obvious, Gucci absolutely killed it in 2018. They dominated our list with 9/15 items belonging to their brand. Why is Gucci all the rage when in years past it has been Versace, COACH, and even Juicy Couture?
Well to be up front, millennials love Gucci. It’s timeless, classy, and right now...super trendy. And let’s be real, every millennial wants in on what’s hot.
In the first three quarters of 2017, around 55% of Gucci's sales were made to consumers under 35. In April, research analysts conducted a survey of 6,000 teens across the United States and found that Gucci was #10 on the list of teens' favorite apparel brands. It has been reported that sales generated in Gucci stores rose by a massive 46.6% in the first half of 2018 alone. That’s a whole lot a money.
Gucci's success comes in part from the creative direction of the fabulous Alessandro Michele, who has led the brand since 2015. Michele has excellent awareness of what young people want; including bright colors, one-of-a-kind patterns, eye-catching structure that screams “Look at me!”, and *most importantly* look good on Instagram.
The brand is also benefiting from the revival of the '90s style and their nostalgic products. Logos are back in fashion with young people and Gucci—along with other companies live Saint Laurnet—are reaping the benefits.
Other brands like Givenchy, Christian Louboutin, and Saint Laurent have made it on our 2018 hot list. Givenchy had a heartbreaking year with its creator, Hubert de Givenchy, passing away at 91. His work influenced the fashion world and it’s no wonder that his products and brand are still selling today. Speaking of legends that never die, Christian Louboutin, and Saint Laurent keep hitting us hard with fashion weeks that are to die for.
Finally, let’s not forget about Apple. Apple has become the market leader for watches in the world, leapfrogging Rolex in the process. Back in July, Apple shipped an estimated 3.5 million Apple Watches worldwide, and that number continues to increase. As technology develops, tech wearables are becoming more and more popular. So much so, that the big fashion house Hermès partnered with them to make this beautiful collection.
So, will Gucci keep killing the game in 2019? We sure hope so #GucciGang. Start adding items to you want list now so that by the time gift-giving season is over, you can focus on what matters to you. Build your want list and start saving so that you can be the next big trendsetter in 2019!
